Senior Research Fellow - Remote Sensing (Level C)

The School of the Environment | Earth Observation Research Centre
Based at EcoSciences Precinct, Dutton Park

About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow in Remote Sensing to contribute their extensive scientific leadership skills and high-level expertise in remote sensing and spatial science, computing, data science, geography and landscape ecology. The Senior Research fellow will lead and direct research and development of remote sensing and satellite image processing methods as part of a collaborative University and State Government partnership that focusses on “research to operations” in support of programs and policy that are addressing some of Queensland’s, Australia’s and the world’s most significant environmental challenges, often over large areas.

This position is funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Environment, Tourism, Science, and Innovation (DETSI) and the incumbent will be expected to work closely with the Joint Remote Sensing Research Program (JRSRP) and DETSI team in helping to undertake priority research tasks and in the day-to-day application of that research for operational outcomes. The position will ideally be primarily located with the DETSI team at the EcoSciences Precinct, Dutton Park, Brisbane, but flexible work arrangements can be negotiated. You will leverage your established record of achievement and recognition in the discipline(s) to continue to maintain and develop your own reputation and that of the partnership.

Applications close 26 January 2025.
