Transitioning Australian Earth Observation Research to Operational Products - Biological and Physical Properties of Oceanic Waters

12:00 - 1:30pm WA (UTC +8)
1:30 - 3:00pm NT (UTC +9.5)
2:00 - 3:30pm QLD (UTC +10)
2:30 - 4:00pm SA (UTC +10.5)
3:00 - 4:30pm NSW, VIC, TAS (UTC +11)

The workshop:

This workshop will facilitate an open discussion to identify the current status and future directions of research activities, available and planned ocean–focused Earth observation (EO) satellite missions, products and their application, from both producers and users of oceanic information. The aim of this workshop is to understand user needs, current status and gaps in EO products and services for oceans, and to support the transition of research activities to validated products and services.

We encourage the EO community to share ideas for planning and building capability. This information will be used to update the Australian Earth Observation Capability Database which will be made publicly available.

Your input:

To gather input from the Earth observation community on research activities and end user experiences we invite you to complete a short survey. Workshop participants as well as those unable to participate in the workshop are encouraged to provide their input up until Friday 11 December 2020.

Who can participate?

Anyone with an interest in developing or using EO products or services on the biological and physical properties and dynamics of our oceans is welcome to participate in this workshop. No registration is required.

Background:

Earth Observation Australia Inc. in collaboration with Geoscience Australia is working to support the transition of Earth Observation activities to validated, continental-wide products that meet end user’s needs and are available 24/7. This is happening through Earth Observation for Government Network (EOGN).

EOGN is a targeted collaboration and priority setting network. It connects users of Earth observation data and its derived products to researchers and government developers/providers. Its aim is to ensure that the products and services developed are fit-for-purpose and relevant.
